What is the authenticity of the hadith: "When an orphan cries, the Throne of the Most Merciful shakes due to his crying. Allah Almighty says to His angels: 'O My angels! Who is it that made this orphan cry, whose father I have hidden in the dust?' The angels say: 'Our Lord, You know best.' Allah Almighty says to My angels: 'Bear witness that whoever silences him and pleases him, I will please him on the Day of Resurrection'" and what is its chain of narration?

The hadith (definition) about an orphan's cry and the trembling of the Throne of the Most Merciful is very weak. It has been narrated through two chains, from Umar ibn al-Khattab and Anas ibn Malik, both of which contain defects and weaknesses in their isnads. Al-Hasan (definition) ibn Abi Ja'far and Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jud'an are weak narrators. As for the second narration, it includes an unknown narrator accused of lying. The virtue of showing kindness to an orphan is sufficiently established by Allah's saying: "So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him]." It is permissible to strike an orphan for disciplinary purposes without causing harm or humiliation.
