What is the authenticity of the "musical instruments" hadith found in Sahih al-Bukhari, and is Hisham ibn Ammar — one of its narrators — considered trustworthy? What is the opinion of the scholars who declared him weak, and does this weaken the hadith?

Hisham bin Ammar was authenticated by Ibn Ma'in, Al-Ijli, and Ibn Hibban. An-Nasa'i said of him: "There is no harm in him." Muslim bin Qasim said: "He is truthful." Ad-Daraqutni said: "He is a great truthful narrator, but he grew old and changed at the end of his life, so his earlier narrations are more authentic." As for the Hadith (definition), it is authentic, and its authenticity was affirmed by Ibn As-Salah (definition), Ibn Hajar, Al-Isma'ili, Ibn Hibban, and Al-Albani.
