The answer

A man's 'awrah (intimate parts) is considered to be the area between the navel and the knee according to the Shafi'i, Hanbali, and Hanafi schools of thought, and also the Maliki school, though they differ on whether the navel and knee themselves are included in the 'awrah. The thigh is considered 'awrah by the majority of the four Madhhabs, who cite prophetic hadiths such as "Cover your thigh, for the thigh is 'awrah" and "Do not expose your thigh." Although the chains of narration for these hadiths may be weak, they strengthen one another, and such (a case) is among what reassures the heart regarding the authenticity of the narrated .
