The primary books to consult for the of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are al-Bukhari and Muslim, followed by the four Sunan books (Sunan Abi Dawud, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, and al-Tirmidhi), as well as Musnad Ahmad and Muwatta Malik. It is recommended to read them along with their commentaries, in addition to books of takhrij and verification like those by Al-Albani, and books that explain the hadiths of fiqh such as Nayl al-Awtar and Bulugh al-Maram, and books on Sirah (Prophetic biography) like Zad al-Ma'ad and Sahih al-Sirah al-Nabawiyah by Al-Omari.
