Is it not mentioned in an authentic Hadith in "Sahih Muslim" that the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There was no prophet sent but he had a disciple who followed him," whereas the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, saw prophets without followers on the night of Al-Isra wal-Mi'raj? How can these two be reconciled?

The reconciliation between the hadith (definition) "There was no prophet sent by Allah to a nation before me except that he had among his nation disciples (Hawariyyun) and companions" and the hadith "Nations were displayed before me... and a prophet had no one with him" can be made by understanding that the first hadith is general, but it refers to the predominant case. It is specified by the other hadith. This means that most prophets, and the majority of them, had companions and disciples, but some of them had no one with them. The Hawariyyun (disciples) are the elite of the prophets and those who were sincere in their love for them, or those who supported them.
