Is it permissible to obligate someone who erred in a sharia matter to purchase a book for the one who was correct in it?

"Shaykh al-Islam considers lawful religious competitions, explaining that jihad is either through knowledge or through weapons. He cited the hadith (definition) of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and his wager with Quraysh concerning the Romans' victory over the Persians, based on Allah Almighty's saying: 'Alif, Lam, Mim. The Romans have been defeated in the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome in a few years.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded him to increase the term and the compensation to match 'a few years' (three to nine). The victory of the Romans came to pass, so Shaykh al-Islam used this story as proof for the permissibility of wagering in matters of sacred knowledge."
