The answer

The joking with khazeerah (a meat broth) mentioned in the of Aisha and Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with them) with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is not considered extravagance. There is no harm in it as long as it is not done persistently or excessively, or if it does not harm the person being joked with. This is supported by Al-Ghazali's statement: "What is forbidden is excessiveness in it or persistence in it." And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, I joke, but I only speak the truth." Therefore, permissible joking is that which does not involve lying, does not hurt anyone's feelings, is not excessive, and is done only occasionally, unlike those who make it a profession.
