The answer

The Du'a of Istikhara, like other supplications, should begin with praising Allah and lauding Him, then by sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as it is authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his saying: "When one of you supplicates, let him begin by glorifying his Lord, Exalted and Glorified be He, and praising Him, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then let him supplicate for whatever he wishes."
