The answer

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is the best of creation. This includes that he is superior to the Kaaba. This superiority is for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, himself, not for the grave in which he was buried. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah was once asked about two men who debated: which is better, the soil of the Prophet’s grave, peace and blessings be upon him, or the Kaaba? He replied that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, himself is the most honorable of Allah’s creation. As for the soil of the grave, it is not better than the Kaaba; rather, the Kaaba is superior to it. It is not known that any scholar preferred the soil of the grave over the Kaaba except Qadi Iyad, and no one preceded him or agreed with him on that.
