If the total duration of the two bleeds and the interval between them does not exceed fifteen days, and the period preceding the first bleed was thirteen days or more, then the entire duration is considered menstruation (hayd). However, if the period of purity before the bleeding did not reach thirteen days, or if the total duration of the two bleeds and the interval between them exceeds fifteen days, then the wife is considered to be experiencing irregular bleeding (istihadah (definition)). Yellowish discharge is considered menstruation if the bleeding preceding it was menstruation. As for the intercourse that occurred, we hope there is no sin upon either of you for it, nor expiation, whether it happened during a period of istihadah, or during menstruation while you were ignorant of the ruling.
