According to the Maliki school of thought, it is permissible for a menstruating woman to recite the Quran. It is preferable, however, for her to perform to remove (ritual impurity), even if menstrual bleeding persists. The entire duration in which blood is observed is considered menstruation, as long as it occurs within a period suitable for menstruation.
