The answer

A hermaphrodite (khuntha) is someone whose maleness or femaleness is not clear. They are divided into "problematic" (mushkil) and "non-problematic" (ghayr mushkil). The non-problematic hermaphrodite is one in whom signs of maleness or femaleness appear, so it is known whether they are a man or a woman. As for the problematic hermaphrodite, no clear signs of maleness or femaleness appear in them, or the signs contradict each other. The nature of the hermaphrodite is determined before puberty based on the urinary outlet, and after puberty through signs such as the growth of a beard, menstruation, the ability to procreate, or even sexual inclination if other signs are unavailable.
