What is the waiting period (iddah) for a woman whose husband passed away in the second month of her pregnancy? And would her waiting period differ if she were to give birth on the day her husband passed away?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The waiting period () of a pregnant woman ends with her giving birth to her entire load, whether her iddah is due to death or divorce. Allah Almighty says: "And for those who are pregnant, their term is when they deliver their burdens." (Quran 65:4). So, when a pregnant woman delivers her burden, her waiting period ends, even if it is a moment after death or divorce.
