If you travel with a and stay with him, there is no harm. If you stay alone in a safe place, it is permissible. However, it is preferable that you do not do so, especially if the country is one of disbelief (kufr). Where your stay is permissible, it is not permissible for you to travel alone to the place of study if it is considered a journey.
