Is it permissible for a son to treat his mother, who communicates with non-mahram men, harshly and roughly? And is it permissible for him to take her mobile phone by force or to abandon her? And is it permissible for him to travel far away from her, hoping she might be deterred?

If a woman communicates with a non-mahram (definition) man with suspicion and corruption, this is a grave evil, and she must repent. She should be advised gently and kindly, and the seriousness of her action on her faith, worldly life, and reputation should be explained to her. The son has done well in his concern for his mother's righteousness, but he erred in being harsh with her, for a mother has the right to dutifulness and kindness, no matter how much she errs. He must repent and frequently pray for her guidance. As for the man communicating with her, he should be advised; if he does not heed the advice, he can be threatened with reporting him to the responsible authorities. His travel far from his mother is permissible if it serves as a deterrent for her; otherwise, it is better not to do so. As for forcibly taking her mobile phone, it is not permissible; rather, she should be advised not to use it for forbidden conversations.
