Is a woman required to make up the Fajr prayer if her menstrual period begins during the Fajr call to prayer?

Scholars have differed regarding a woman who experiences an impediment, such as menstruation, after the prayer time has begun: is she obligated to make up the prayer after the impediment is removed? The most prominent view is that she is not obligated to make up the prayer unless she apprehended enough time from its period to complete a full rak'ah, based on the hadith (definition), "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the prayer has caught the prayer." So, if menstruation begins after the prayer time has entered, by a duration sufficient for at least one rak'ah, she should make up that prayer after purification. Otherwise, she is not obligated to make it up. The adhan (definition) does not regulate this issue; rather, it is knowing the entry and exit of the prayer time. Being cautious by making up the prayer is better.
