What is the expiation for the unmarried fornicator, and for one who has intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan?

One who commits adultery must initiate sincere repentance and conceal their sin, and increase in supererogatory acts of worship and good deeds. If their sin becomes known, then if they are married (muhsan), they are to be stoned. If they are unmarried (ghair muhsan), they are to be scourged one hundred lashes and exiled for one year. As for the expiation for one who has sexual intercourse with their wife during the daytime in Ramadan (definition) while fasting, it is: freeing a slave. If they cannot find one, then fasting for two consecutive months. If they are unable to do so, then feeding sixty poor people. This order is the one that is given in fatwa (definition).
