Will a wife be held accountable if she disobeys her husband concerning the preparation of a strenuous and time-consuming meal during blessed days?

Scholars have differed regarding the obligation of a wife to serve her husband. The majority opinion is that it is not obligatory. However, the fatwa (definition) we adopt states that it is obligatory, according to what is customarily acceptable. Therefore, it is obligatory for you to obey your husband in cooking food, unless there is harm in doing so or it leads to neglecting another obligation. A wife's obedience to her husband and her good companionship are among the best righteous deeds that bring her closer to Allah. Righteous deeds are not limited to specific acts of worship; rather, they include everything that Allah loves and is pleased with, from deeds of the heart and the limbs. Remembrance of Allah and good character are among the best acts of worship. We advise the husband to be gentle with his wife, to care for her, and to cooperate with her in goodness.
