Are we obligated to pay an additional amount to the worker who refused to accept 50 riyals as her wage for half a month, claiming she is owed another 25 riyals, knowing that she worked an additional week and we were met with refusal when we tried to pay her for that week?

An ijarah (definition) (leasing/hiring contract) must be defined either by a period of time or by a specific task. If it is defined by a period of time, the employee is entitled to the wage by making himself available for work during that period, whether he actually works or not, if the reason for not working comes from the employer. If the ijarah is defined by a specific task, the employee is not entitled to the wage until the work is completed. The questioner is advised to deal with leniency, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "May Allah have mercy on a man who is lenient when he sells, when he buys, and when he demands payment."
