The answer

This surplus does not go beyond three scenarios:

1. The surplus is due to an error or a lack of change, in which case it remains the property of its owner. If the owner is unknown, it falls under the ruling of a found item (luqatah).

2. The owners of the surplus tell the treasurer: "Take it." This constitutes ownership given to the treasurer, who then has the right to dispose of it.

3. The owners leave it voluntarily and knowingly, without transferring ownership to the treasurer. In this case, it belongs to the company, because the treasurer is an agent for the company.

The treasurer's hand is a hand of trust (), not a guarantee (daman), so he is not obligated to compensate for any deficit unless it results from his negligence or shortcoming.
