The answer

A joint-stock company has the rulings of an inan partnership. A partner is not permitted to be allocated a wage for his work in the company unless it is through a separate contract. However, it is permissible to increase his share of the profit in exchange for his work. If he is not a partner, it is permissible for him to work as an employee with a fixed wage, and it is permissible to allocate a portion of the profit as an incentive for him. As for a manager who is not a partner, it is permissible to appoint him with a fixed wage along with allocating a percentage of the profits as an incentive for him. However, if his wage is a percentage of the profits, then he is a mudharib (investor-manager) and is not entitled to a wage.
