What is the ruling on working in a restaurant that serves pork and alcohol out of necessity, and is the questioner sinful for not informing his family that his brother's money is unlawful, and what is the ruling on working in lawful projects for a brother who knows that his money is unlawful?
It is not permissible to work in a restaurant that directly sells alcohol or pork. One must leave it immediately and search for another job, unless no other work can be found and one has no money for expenses. In such a case, it is permissible to remain, while endeavoring to avoid direct involvement with prohibited items as much as possible, due to necessity.
As for the money earned from this work in a situation of necessity, one must dispose of the portion of the salary proportionate to the prohibited work. If one needs a part of this proportion to meet their necessities and those they support, it is permissible to take only what is necessary, and dispose of the rest.
The family must be informed about the brother's source of income so they are aware. If they have sufficient money or are capable of earning, they are not permitted to benefit from the brother's unlawfully acquired money. It is not permissible to work with the brother on a project whose entire capital is unlawful.
