Does the prayer of a person with perpetual ritual impurity become invalid if the prayer time expires while they are in the second or third unit of prayer, given that their ablution would then be nullified?
In brief, the ruling on this matter depends on the nature of the transaction:
- If these funds are given as a gift from the client to the employee, then the original ruling for gifts is permissibility. However, it must be ensured that there is no deception or circumvention against others, and that the employee does not explicitly or implicitly request it.
- If these funds are a form of bribery, such as when a client pays an employee to perform an act forbidden by or law, or to give them preferential treatment over others, then this is forbidden by Sharia. Allah says: (And do not consume your properties among yourselves by falsehood or hand it over to the authorities to consume a portion of the properties of the people unlawfully while you know) [Al-Baqarah: 188]. And on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr, he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the briber and the bribed" (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and he said: ).
- If the transaction is permissible according to Sharia and law, but the employee requests money to perform their duty, which is originally part of their job, or to expedite the completion of the transaction, then this money is considered ill-gotten gain and bribery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Gifts to officials are ghulul (ill-gotten gains)" (Narrated by Al-Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad, and authenticated by Al-Albani).
And Allah knows best.
