What is the ruling on an employer who adds the time spent on prayer to the working hours, thereby delaying the departure time by that amount, such as adding fifteen minutes for both the Dhuhr and Asr prayers?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The time for obligatory prayers is legally exempt from the hired work period and does not need to be stipulated in the contract. It is not permissible for the employer to add extra time to the workers' hours because they performed prayer, or to deduct anything from their wages on account of it.
