What should a wife do with her husband who prevents her from watching religious programs, despite his commitment to prayer, fasting, and night vigil, and despite his disregard for the lawful and unlawful in his financial dealings, such as working in an interest-based bank and smoking cigarettes?

The husband is obligated to care for his wife and strive for what benefits her. He must fear Allah and not prevent her from following beneficial religious programs. As for the wife, she should try to convince her husband of the necessity of following channels that help her learn matters of religion and Islamic upbringing. If he insists, she should ask him for an alternative from books and tapes. This man must repent and seek forgiveness for smoking and working in usurious banks.
