The answer

There is no objection to working in the registration and inventory of goods, unless they are prohibited, like alcohol, because that entails assisting in sin. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed ten categories of people concerning alcohol, among them its carrier and the one to whom it is carried. You must refrain from everything connected to alcohol. If you are unable to, then seek permissible work. As for money earned from prohibited work before knowing of its prohibition, whatever was spent from it is fine, and whatever remains in hand may be utilized, according to the Almighty’s saying: (So whoever receives an admonition from his Lord and desists, he may have what has already passed, and his affair is [now] entrusted to Allah). And asking people of knowledge about what is permissible and prohibited is commendable and obligatory. It is not among the blameworthy excessive questioning, which refers to asking for money without need, or for problems without necessity, or asking with the intent to overburden the one being asked.
