Am I required to offer one expiatory offering (kaffarat yamin) or two for breaking an oath and then not wishing to fulfill it, and is it permissible to give the expiatory offering in cash to charitable organizations?

If the questioner breaks a vow, an expiation for breaking an oath becomes obligatory upon him, and his vow or oath is dissolved. No further expiation is required unless he intended repetition or used a wording that implied it. If anger caused him to lose awareness, then nothing is obligatory upon him.

Zakat (definition) must be distributed among the eight categories mentioned in the Quran: "Indeed, [ prescribed ] charitable donations are only to be given to the poor and the needy, and to those who work on [ collecting ] them, and to those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to [ free ] those in bondage, and to the debt-ridden, and for the cause of God, and to the wayfarer." An orphan is not a recipient of zakat unless he is poor or needy.
