Does the reward for a waqf made by children on behalf of their deceased father reach him, or is its reward limited to a waqf he made himself?

Scholars have unanimously agreed that the deceased benefits from charity given on their behalf, whether it is ongoing (Sadaqah (definition) Jariyah), such as building a mosque or digging a well, or non-ongoing, such as giving money to a poor person with the intention of reward for the deceased. The reward reaches the deceased even if someone else gives the charity on their behalf. This is supported by authentic hadiths, including: "When a person dies, all their deeds cease except for three: an ongoing charity, knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who prays for them," and the hadith (definition) of Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah when he asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about giving charity for his deceased mother. What you have done by establishing an endowment (waqf) for your father will benefit him, and its reward will reach him.
