Is expiation (kaffara) obligatory for quitting cigarette smoking?

Giving up smoking is a blessing from Allah. There is no specific expiation required of a servant when he quits; rather, he should seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him for what has passed, for good deeds erase bad ones. It is also commendable for him to give (charity) or perform other good deeds.
