It is obligatory to take the initiative to deliver al-Fitr to its deserving recipients on the day of Eid. The majority of scholars hold that it is not permissible to delay it beyond that day. Some scholars even went further, stating that it is not permissible to delay it beyond the Eid prayer. Delaying it after the day of Eid is not permissible; indeed, some jurists have conveyed a consensus on this matter.
