Is it permissible for a husband to give his Zakat money to his wife to pay off her debt?

The correct view is that the wife is entitled to to pay off her debt if she has no means to settle it, for she is among the heavily indebted (gharimin). The Zakat does not return to the husband with any benefit. If one spouse gives the other what enables them to pay off their debt, it is permissible, because the benefit does not accrue back to the giver.
