The answer

A father must provide for his son according to what is customary. It is not permissible for him to give to his son, because that would be a way of saving his own money, which he is obliged to spend on maintenance, and it would be as if he paid it to himself. As for a poor woman who has been irrevocably divorced (mutallaqah ba'in), it is permissible to give her zakat if she is not sufficiently provided for by a relative. However, it is not permissible to give zakat to a woman who has been revocably divorced (mutallaqah raj'iyah) during her ' (waiting period), as she is considered to be like a wife.
