If gold jewelry is intended for adornment and use, there is no on it according to the opinion of the majority of scholars, even if it is not used. However, if it is not acquired for adornment, zakat is obligatory on it every year if it reaches the and a full year has passed over it, unless the zakat is paid from the gold itself and its amount consequently falls below the nisab, in which case its zakat is waived.
