The answer

Real estate designated for family use is not subject to as long as it remains so. If it is sold, and a year passes on its price, which has reached the , then zakat becomes obligatory on it. Whatever was spent from it before the year is not counted. Therefore, zakat is due on the price of the apartment if it has completed a year and reached the nisab, whether it has been received or not, if it is a debt owed by a willing and solvent debtor.
