Is it permissible to give gold zakat to family members who are experiencing financial hardship due to a health crisis and cessation of work as a result of war, and does the mother's possession of a small amount of gold prevent this?

It is permissible to give zakat (definition) to poor relatives who have no money or insufficient income, even if they are in another country, for their benefit.

As for the mother, if she cannot meet her needs except through zakat, it is permissible for her to take it. However, according to the majority of scholars, it is not permissible for a person to give his zakat to his ascendants (like the mother) or descendants (like the children), because he is obligated to provide for them. Nevertheless, if providing for them would harm his own children, some scholars have permitted it.

The fundamental principle we adhere to is that zakat is not obligatory on jewelry intended for adornment and personal use, though paying it is more cautious.
