There is no sin upon you for what you practiced before puberty, for the pen is lifted from the child until he reaches puberty. Therefore, this affliction is not due to practicing masturbation in childhood. The affliction might be due to other sins, or it could be a trial from Allah to raise one's ranks. A human being cannot definitively ascertain the cause of an affliction because it pertains to the unseen. Among the means of repelling affliction are: repentance, supplication, and complaining to Allah.
