Will Allah forgive me for my past masturbation, and will I be pleased with myself after giving it up?

Practicing masturbation is Islamically forbidden, and one must cease it and repent from it. If you practiced it during the daytime in Ramadan and ejaculated, you are required to repent and make up for that day. We bring you good tidings that Allah rejoices in the repentance of His servant, and repentance removes the psychological pain resulting from sin, as stated in His Almighty saying: "And to the three who were left behind [and regretful] until, when the earth became constricted for them, wide though it was, and their souls became constricted for them, and they realized that there is no refuge from Allah except in Him. Then He turned to them in forgiveness that they might repent. Indeed, Allah is the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful." As for self-satisfaction, it is not among the characteristics of a believer; rather, a believer always accuses himself of shortcomings.
