The answer

The occurrence of such matters is possible; they serve as a gradual enticement for disbelievers and a trial for believers, so that Allah may distinguish the wicked from the good. Indeed, faith is a blessing that Allah places only in its rightful position. The distinction among people occurs through trials and tests, as Allah Almighty stated: "And let not those grieve you who hasten into disbelief. Indeed, they will not harm Allah at all. Allah intends that He should not give them a share in the Hereafter, and for them is a great punishment. Indeed, those who bought disbelief at the price of faith will not harm Allah at all, and for them is a painful punishment. And let not those who disbelieve think that Our indulgence to them is good for themselves. We only indulge them so that they may increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment. Allah would not leave the believers in that [state] in which you are until He separates the wicked from the good. Nor would Allah apprise you of the unseen, but Allah chooses from His messengers whom He wills. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And if you believe and fear Him, then for you is a great reward."
