The answer

There is no harm in fictional stories that are free of prohibitions, and there is no objection to introducing supernatural characters as long as this does not contradict Islamic عقيدة (creed) by claiming characteristics of Lordship (Rububiyyah) or Divinity (Uluhiyyah) for those characters. Merely mentioning a character capable of camouflage does not necessitate prohibition. Hypnosis is (forbidden) if it relies on the use of jinn, and (permissible) if it relies on suggestion and psychological practices. Accordingly, mentioning hypnosis in novels is forbidden if it is of the first type, and permissible if it is of the second type.
