The question

Why does the Qur’an state that the kingdom of our master Solomon was so powerful, even though history books mention that its borders did not extend beyond Palestine and it was not that mighty? And why did he invite the people of Sheba to Islam, despite his intention to invade them if they did not respond, while he did not invade or fight the states closer to him?

The answer

The indication of the Holy Quran is sufficient to prove the grandeur and vastness of Prophet Sulayman's dominion, and that no one else was given its like. The wind was subjugated to him, as were the jinn, and he was taught the speech of birds. Scholars have mentioned that the dominion of the world encompassed four individuals: Sulayman and Dhul-Qarnayn (both believers), and Nimrod and Nebuchadnezzar (both disbelievers). This refutes the belief that Sulayman's dominion did not extend beyond the borders of Palestine, and that the statement: "It is known in history books that the borders of our master Sulayman's kingdom did not at his time exceed the borders of Palestine" is merely a claim with no authority in the face of the Quran.
