Will Allah take revenge on a servant after repentance, and does repentance require abundant seeking of forgiveness, or is regret sufficient, and is it possible that Allah would send me a spouse who is similar to me in his wickedness after repentance?

Sincere repentance, with its conditions, expiates sins. Its conditions are: abstaining from the sin, regretting having committed it, and resolving not to return to it. Some scholars have stipulated uttering istighfar (seeking forgiveness). If these conditions are met, Allah expiates sins and lifts the punishment, for expiation means effacing the effect of the sin and the deserving of punishment. As for linking marriage to a dissolute person with it being a punishment for sins, one cannot assert that, as it is among the matters of the Unseen.
