What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding someone who suffers from the addiction of procrastination, masturbation, pornography, daydreaming, and depression (while taking Tiurel and Demetrol medications), and feels numbness in the feet and trembling in the left hand when reading the Quran?

The matters mentioned are either sins committed or calamities with which the servant is afflicted. Disobedience is one of the causes of calamities, for Allah Almighty says: "And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is because of what your hands have earned; and He pardons much," and His saying: "Say, 'It is from yourselves.'" Therefore, one must hasten to repent and seek help through patience, for it is a comfort for the believer and an expiation for his sins, as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Calamity continues to afflict the believing man and woman in themselves, their children, and their wealth until they meet Allah with no sin upon them." One can also consult doctors and pay attention to ruqyah (definition) (Islamic exorcism), for there is much good in it. Numbness when reciting the Quran may be an indicator of affliction by the evil eye or magic. Among the things that help with treatment are maintaining obligatory prayers and avoiding sins.
