What is the ruling on selling inexpensive amulets ("the eye" and "the five")?

Non-precious jewelry, if used for protection against the evil eye, is considered among the forbidden amulets (tama'im) in Islam, because Islam has invalidated amulets. Religious texts have been reported prohibiting the wearing of amulets, shells, threads, and similar items, considering them shirk (definition) (polytheism), due to the belief involved that they bring benefit or ward off harm from other than Allah, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever hangs an amulet, may Allah not fulfill his need; and whoever hangs a seashell, may Allah not grant him peace."

It is not permissible to sell these items if they are used for forbidden purposes, as this constitutes cooperation in sin and transgression. Islam has forbidden the price of anything whose use is forbidden.
