The answer

The mere fact that a name is foreign does not prohibit naming a child with it, unless it contains a meaning forbidden by Islamic law. If it carries a good meaning, then it is permissible to name a child with it.

However, it is preferable not to name a newborn with a foreign name, due to the influence the name has on its bearer; this might lead its bearer to become attached to disbelieving women and to imitate them in religion and morals.

It is recommended to name a girl Sarah, or with the names of the female Companions or righteous women, such as Maryam and Asiyah.
