The question

What is the ruling on lengthening trousers in their natural form, and does its ruling differ from that of the jalabiya regarding isbal (letting one's garment hang below the ankles), and would the same ruling have applied to it if it had existed during the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?

The answer

Islamic has brought detailed rulings for clothing, based on moderation and temperance. As for lengthening trousers [below the ankles], its ruling is like lengthening a shirt or an izar (lower garment), and scholars have differed on it. The majority of them consider it disliked () if it is without pride, while some have deemed it forbidden. The beauty that is beloved in Islam must adhere to Sharia guidelines, not personal whims. It is advised to consult the treatise by Sheikh Bakr Abu Zayd, "The Limit of the Garment and Lower Garments, and the Prohibition of Isbal (Lengthening Garments), and Garments of Fame."
