It is absolutely forbidden for a man to wear gold, and it is absolutely forbidden for him to wear a necklace around his neck, as this constitutes imitation of women. Some jurists have permitted wearing what is merely a color from which nothing comes off when rubbed or placed on fire, though it is better to avoid it.
