It is forbidden for men to wear it and permissible for women, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Silk and gold are forbidden for the males of my nation and permissible for its females." If a man wears gold in the form of a necklace, he has committed two forbidden acts: wearing gold and imitating women.
