The story is authentic, narrated by Ahmad and others, and authenticated by Al-Albani. It is prescribed for the Muslim to recite the ذکر (remembrance/supplication) mentioned in it to ward off the evil of devils. The Imams have dedicated chapters to it in their books with this meaning. If a Muslim recites it, it is hoped that the evil of devils will be warded off from them.
