What is the stance of Islam and the Righteous Predecessors regarding a group of people gathering weekly in homes to remember Allah, glorify Him, and seek His forgiveness, turning off the lights during the remembrance, and then having a light meal at the end of the session?

Gathering for remembrance (dhikr), supplication (du'a), and قرآن recitation is recommended, unless it becomes a regular, established practice or includes innovation (bid'ah), such as "communal dhikr" or "dhikr using a single word." As for turning off the lights, if done as a Sunnah (definition) in dhikr, it is an innovation. Gathering for food is permissible.
