Masturbation is a sin from which one must repent. Abandoning prayer is a grave crime, and Islamic law has called it disbelief (kufr). Some scholars consider one who abandons it out of laziness to be a disbeliever, while the majority view is that one does not leave the fold of Islam merely by abandoning it. An apostate returns to Islam simply by praying, and it suffices for him to utter the two declarations of faith (Shahadatayn) during the Tashahhud (definition). The prayer of a Muslim while in a state of ritual impurity (junub) is a major sin from which one must repent and repeat the prayer.
